* Watch YouTube recording starting at 9:54 minutes.
* Using Google Earth Pro (you can download for free) choose to complete one of the two activities below:
  • Locate "Fountain Paint Pots, WY" and explore using various Google Earth features. What might you see if you hiked around this area? How long are the trails? What special features might you explore? Record in your field journal.
  • Choose an area of your choice (your neighborhood, somewhere you'd like to travel to, anywhere). Use the "time slider" function to view this space over time. Record exploration in your field journal.

Anne Madden: Exploring Microbial Symbionts & Using iNaturalist

Assignment:​
1. Find a lichen near you (in a yard, in your neighborhood, or anywhere that is safe to explore.)
2. Take a photograph of it.
3. Share your photograph, and your observations about the lichen, on the iNaturalist app (directions are included in the video for using the mobile app, or uploading the image using a non-mobile browser).
4. Write in your field journal about where you found the lichen, how you know it is lichen (and not moss), and what it looks like.

Assignment: After watching the video, create a list in your field journal of natural features you might find tardigrades (yes, you can use Google to find suggestions), or sketch environments that may plentiful when looking for microscopic creatures.
